Clear the decks...

All this sorting out is a great way to put things off. Clear the decks for action. If you're lucky it'll take all day. Too late for action now. Go on, you deserve a game of Scrabble.

However, I've got back as far as March 2006 in my sorting out.

I found a silly poem I wrote then in response to the topic 'Heat' . If my brother stumbles across this blog it may remind him.

HEAT
Mam sent us to t' chippy
to buy us some fish.
Dog 'ad to come wi' me,
Not what I'd wish.

'Ey up,' says t' lassie
as served me wi' food,
'summat smells a bit queer.'
Says I, ' 't's a bit rude.

This dog is a bitch, and
to be short and sweet
I've sprayed Antimate on 'er
You see, she's on 'eat.'

Clearing the decks for action ... this made me laugh!

I find that the problem with clearing the decks is that, unless the stuff cleared is jettisoned into the ocean (something I find very hard), it is just moved from one deck to another, so there is always a new deck to be cleared!

I notice your link is 'auntiekath.blogspot' (I have an aunt called Kathleen, though we call her Kate or katie) As you are known as 'aliqot' and signed your comment on my blog as 'Alison', I wondered why?

:o)

Hi moondreamer,

I rarely have the guts to throw stuff overboard. Must do better at that.

As for the name. My first name's Kathleen, though I was always 'officially' Alison. My mother used to call me Kate or Katy - no one else ever did, until a nephew discovered my first name and now insists on calling me Autnie Kath. So when I was deciding what to call the link - it came to mind. otherwise I tend to use aliqot, which has been a nickname for years. It comes from my partner, a physicist and mathematician with a taste for word-play.
I've used it online since the days of BBC's Get Writing site.
Ah the layers of identity. Now I feel peeled as an onion. lol.

No, me neither, aliqot!

I still have bin liners and boxes on the landing and hiding under the kitchen table, from a clear out at new year (officially they are on the way out to various other destinations, but I think i will be unable to resist one more look through ... am sure there will be something very useful, that absolutely must be rescued ...)

Yes, identity is a strange thing, I just left a quote on your other post about identity/identities!

I think Professor Winston would say your partner has a very balanced (left side/right side) brain ... I am really enjoying reading about the brain and its influence on character, awesome stuff!)

Hope you've had a lovely weekend and a great start to the week :o)

Hi moondreamer,

Thanks for coming back on this.

I have to admit I've neither watched nor read Prof Winston, though I have read some of the right brain/left brain theories.

Harry's definitely a mixture - paints and plays music too.

In many ways I'm more on the analytical side of things myself, in spite of my 'subject' being languages (French and German and their respective literature). I always mistrust too much 'roar' emotion, ;-), especially in news reports when they interview too many people breaking down in tears.

Off to re-read your other post.

Thanks, Karen. I'll drop in on your blog later - just about to drive down to Bristol.
